Insurance and Billing
Carolina Kids currently accepts most plans offered by the insurance carriers listed below:
- Aetna
- Blue Cross & Blue Shield Commercial Plans
- Blue Value
- Cigna
- Duke Select (we can file but we are not a Duke preferred provider)
- Medcost
- Meritain
- The State Plan (BCBS & Aetna)
- Tricare East Select (We are not able to accept Prime)
- UMR
- United Healthcare Commercial Plans
- Wake Med Contigo ( we can file but we are not a Wake Med provider so Contigo charges the max copay in our office)
Medicaid:
We are now accepting new Medicaid patients with the following Medicaid plans only:
- United Healthcare Community Plan
- Wellcare (Changing to Carolina Complete Health on April 1. We cannot Carolina Complete Health prior to April 1.)
- Alliance
- Medicaid Direct/ Fee for Service
Policies we are unable to accept/file:
We currently do not accept new patients with cost sharing policies such as Medishare or Christian Care Ministries.
We currently not contracted with, nor able to file:
- BrightHealth
- Ambetter
- International policies (such as GeoBlue).
- Champ VA
If your policy has changed, please check with our office prior to any appointments.
While your carrier may be listed above, due to constant changes in healthcare plans, we cannot guarantee that we are in network with your specific plan or able to submit claims on your behalf.

Many insurance plans apply deductibles/co-insurance to testing or procedures performed during your visit. Separate codes are used for add-on items and are not included with the exam, even if performed at a scheduled well-exam. See our parent handout on Deductibles/Co-Insurance for more information.

Payment Options
We accept cash, or credit cards, including tap to pay. Please call and speak to our office staff if you have any billing questions.
Please make sure you bring your new insurance information to your appointment.
Just a reminder that you'll need to add your insurance information when you check in online or present it to the front desk team member when you arrive for your appointment.
